First International Maritime Exhibition in Four Years

Sea Japan, Japan’s largest international maritime exhibition, will be held at Tokyo Big Sight from April 20-22, 2022, for the first time in four years.

More than 350 exhibitors, including the Japan Pavilion, have already been selected to participate in the exhibition.

Since large industry events have been restricted in Corona, expectations are high among industry professionals for this event, which has not been held in a long time.

Main Theme and Issues

The main theme of Sea Japan this year is “Toward the Era of Digital and Zero”.

Sea Japan will introduce initiatives, the latest technologies and strategies related to zero emissions and Digital Transformation in the shipbuilding, shipping and marine equipment fields respectively.

Now, environmental protection measures are being implemented on a global scale.

And also in Japan, industry-wide efforts are being developed to achieve “commercial operation of zero-emission ships” by 2028.

At the same time, the maritime industry will address various issues, such as reduction of maritime accidents, increase in trade needs due to expansion of individual imports and exports, improvement of the working environment, and labor shortages.

Measures include autonomous navigation, automated operations, remote inspections, and the promotion of Digital Transformation through the use of digital technologies such as IoT and AI, which are indispensable for the industry.

Japan Pavilion

The exhibition will feature corporate exhibits and events in line with the main theme.

At this year’s Sea Japan, a huge “Japan Pavilion” will be set up in the center of the exhibition hall.

There will be two zones within this pavilion.

One is “Theme Zone” for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and other industry, government and academic organizations.

Another one is “Members Zone” for member companies of the Japan Marine Equipment Association.

Theme Zone

In Theme Zone, the latest Japanese technologies and products related to 10 themes will be introduced.

The themes will include marine transportation, shipbuilding, ferries, zero emissions, ocean development and offshore wind power utilization, and Digital Transformation, automated navigation and so on.

Members Zone

In addition, 64 Japanese marine equipment manufacturers will exhibit in Members Zone, presenting Japan’s best marine technology products and services.

Since this is an exhibition, they will be showcasing their products for business negotiations. In addition to it, they will also have online matchmaking for business meetings, so people from far away can also participate.

I, as a YouTuber, will be there to cover the event.

My channel, together with the radio, has 11,000 subscribers for the Japanese version and 65,000 for the English version.

I am looking forward to introducing Japan’s largest maritime exhibition to Japan and abroad through YouTube.

That’s all for today. Thank you.
